Is premium worth it over budget picks?

It depends what you are buying for. For a wedding, an event or a piece you intend to keep for years, the finishing difference is visible and worth paying for. For everyday rotation it is not: heavier constructions and painted surfaces need more care, and hand-work means the piece you receive will vary slightly from the photograph.
